The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the military to rescue Pastor Bulud Yakuru from the Boko Haram terrorists who had given him a one week ultimatum before it is too late. LIB reported earlier that the Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram which kidnapped Pastor Yakuru on December 24, 2020 after an attack at Pemi Village in Borno State, gave the federal government a one week ultimatum to negotiate his release, and this one week ultimatum will end on Wednesday March 3. The Christian group in a statement issued by its President, Samson Ayokunle on Saturday February 27, said Buhari has no excuse not to act decisively and rescue Pastor Yakuru if Trump could order the military to secure the release of one kidnapped American citizen in Nigeria. CAN also described the freedom of Pastor Yakuru as a litmus test for the new Service Chiefs. The statement read; “The leadership of CAN believes that the freedom of Pastor Yakuru is a litmus test for the new Service Chiefs and the whole world is watching whether they will live up to the expectations of or not.“If the then American President, Donald Trump could put his acts together from far away America and ordered his military to rescue one kidnapped American in Nigeria, then our President has no excuse or whatsoever not to act decisively and rescue Pastor Yakuru.“Why should the government leave the citizens of this country at the mercy of insurgents, bandits and kidnappers? Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of All Progressives Congress leader Bola Tinubu and 5 others have been barred by a Lagos state high court from imposing levies on traders at the Computer Village, Lagos. This is coming a year after the traders embarked on a protest after Folasade who is also the Iyaloja-General of Lagos State, reportedly imposed leaders on them who introduced new levies. Punch reported that the order which is sequel to a fundamental human rights suit marked ID/9039MFHR/19, also barred Mrs. Bisola Azeez, Mr. Adeniyi Olasoji, Nofiu Akinsanya, Tony Ikani and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State from imposing such levies. The judgment which Justice Yetunde Pinheiro delivered, read in part; “I find that the 2nd and 3rd respondents’ imposition of levies on the applicants is illegal, null and void and therefore amounts to a violation of their fundamental rights.“Accordingly, it is hereby ordered as thus: The first to fifth respondents by themselves, agents, levy collectors howsoever called are restrained from imposing levies and fines on the members of the 1st to 5th applicants at the Ikeja Computer Village in the Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State.” In the letter titled, ‘Dear members, Our Court Victory against Iyaloja and Babaloja and Others in Computer Village, Ikeja’ and signed by the stakeholders' Chairman and Secretary-General, Timi Famoroti and Jerry Mba, members were asked not to pay tax to Tinubu’s daughter or her representatives. It read; “This landmark judgement implies that the Iyaloja General, Chief Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, Mrs. Bisola Azeez, And Mr. Olasoji Adeniyi or their representatives or agents cannot collect any form of dues, levies or fines from the members of Ikeja Computer Village Market. Any collection in this regard is illegal.“We, therefore, urge you not to submit yourself to any form of payment, intimidation and extortion. It is your right to defend yourself and report to your leaders if there is a violation of your fundamental human rights.“Please ensure you document with concrete evidence and report any breach of your right to your leaders. This will help our legal action/s against any violators when necessary. We, therefore, urge every member to continue to pay your agreed dues to your various associations accordingly.” Traders were also asked to pay their personal and company income, taxes, levies and others to the appropriate government agencies at the national, state and local governments when due.The post 
Dozens of travelers, including a young man and his two relatives were abducted in separate attacks launched by suspected Boko Haram insurgents along the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway. It was gathered that the insurgents ambushed commercial vehicles plying the highway on Friday afternoon, February 26 and forced many passengers into the forests. The abductions took place between Mainok and Jakana axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, around 3:30 pm. One Wadzani Waxax said that his younger brother identified as Ijey as well as two relatives were among the travelers abducted during the attack. A newly-wed bride and all the passengers in three vehicles, who accompanied her to Damaturu were also kidnapped by the insurgents. According to a family source, only an elderly woman was left with instructions that the others have been kidnapped by the insurgents.

Boko Haram terrorists have released a new video showing children undergoing religious and combat training in a camp. HumAngle reports that the images show relatively young children dressed in combat-style clothing and balaclava participating in martial arts training, weapon handling training, and religious education class. At least two instructors and one child had what appeared to be the Zastava M21, likely captured from Cameroonian security forces. 
The Zastava M21, built based on the Kalashnikov design, has appeared in previous pictures shared by Boko Haram factions or reported to have been recovered by security forces. Some children were also shown holding different Kalashnikov pattern assault rifles with under folding, side-folding and fixed wooden stocks.

Some communities in the eastern part of Sokoto state are deserted after armed bandits killed four persons and rustled several livestock. Colonel Garba Moyi (Rtd), the state Commissioner for Carrier and Security Matters, who confirmed the attacks, said three persons were killed at Bargaja village in Isa local government area while one was killed in a community under Sabon Birni local government. It was gathered that the armed bandits invaded Bargaja around 2pm on Thursday, shooting sporadically. A resident, who spoke to Daily Trust said six persons were shot in the village, but only three died while the remaining three are currently receiving treatment in the hospitals. A resident of Isa who identified himself as Surajo said that inhabitants of Bargaja, Tozai, Turba and Danzanke have all relocated to Isa town following series of attacks on their villages. "They don’t sleep in their places any more. Only some of their men who have farmlands nearer to the village go back every morning to work on them and rush back to Isa town before sun set,” he said. Another resident, who sought for anonymity, said one person was killed on Friday at Adamawa village. A resident identified as Malam Sanusi Gatawa told Daily Trust that Gatawa in Sabon Birni local government is now flooded with refugees from neighbouring villages including Makera, Dankura, Burkusuma, Kumaro, Garin Tunkiya, Zangon Malam and Asha Banza among others. He stated that one Malam Bilya Idris otherwise known as Idi Gago was killed at Dankura village and Malam Abdulmajid Abdurrahman, Muhammadu Hatimu and Yazzid Sa’idu lost their lives during Zangon Malam’s attack some weeks ago. However, the commissioner explained that the attacks were made by the splinter groups of those gangs that already embraced peace with the government and they were meant to rustled animals not to kill the villagers. He explained that most of the people killed were either members of the vigilante group or those who lost their animals and decided to pursue the bandits. "That is why we don’t encourage the villagers to engage them because we have our own ways of recovering whatever they have stolen. We use their brothers who embraced peace to recover the animals and even their weapons as well as secure release of kidnapped victims,” he said. He added that over 20 weapons had been recovered from the bandits while many captives have been freed. The post

According to Ozekhome, compared to 214 Chibok schoolgirls missing under former President Goodluck Jonathan, the situation has worsened with 807 school pupils kidnapped by criminals under the Buhari administration. That is why I always ask, who is advising this government?The present ravaging insecurity is what led to the emergence of Amotekun, in the South West and the Eastern Security Network in the South East. There have also mushroomed various local policing militias across the country. Two suspected drug peddlers, Effangha Effangha, 37, and Eno-Obong Udome, 34, were arrested by Army personnel attached to the Cross River Government security outfit "Operation Akpakwu" The suspects were arrested on Thursday and Friday, February 25, 26, at Nelson Mandela street in Calabar and Ekpenyong Ekpo in Akpabuyo local government area of the state. The 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Calabar has handed over two suspected drug dealers to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution. The Officer Commanding 13 Brigade Provost Company, Maj. Stanley Ikpeme, handed over of the suspects to officials of NDLEA on behalf of the the 13 Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Abdullahi in Calabar on Saturday. "These suspects were arrested by own troops at Nelson Mandela street in Calabar and Ekpenyong Ekpo in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River for peddling in substances suspected to be drugs," said Maj. Ikpeme. "Consequently, I am directed to handover the suspects and the drugs to officials of the NDLEA for further investigations and possible prosecution. You are please requested to furnish this office with the outcome of the investigation to enable us update our records," he added. Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Principal Staff Officer Operations, NDLEA, Cross River, received the suspects on behalf of his command.

Seems like the problems facing New York governor, Andrew Cuomo keep piling up as another former aide of his has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, just days after his first accuser made her claims public. In a New York Times exclusive, Charlotte Bennett, an executive assistant and health policy adviser in the Cuomo administration until she left in November, alleged that Cuomo "asked her questions about her sex life, whether she was monogamous in her relationships and if she had ever had sex with older men." 
Bennett aged 25, described an incident that took place in June when she was "alone" with the governor aged 63 in his State Capitol office.According to the New York times report, he allegedly asked her if she thought age made a difference in romantic relationships and that he was open to having relationships with women in their 20s, which were noted by the Times as "comments she interpreted as clear overtures to a sexual relationship." 
Bennett alleges that Cuomo never tried touching her, but that the governor's "message" during that exchange was "unmistakable to her.""I understood that the governor wanted to sleep with me, and felt horribly uncomfortable and scared," Bennett told the Times."And was wondering how I was going to get out of it and assumed it was the end of my job."According to the Times, Bennett disclosed the incident to Cuomo's chief of staff Jill DesRosiers less than a week later and submitted a lengthy statement to Cuomo's special counsel Judith Mogul at the end of the month. She was them transferred to another job as a health policy adviser, placing her on the opposite side of the Capitol building. Bennett told the Times she didn't legally proceed with the case because she "wanted to move on" and that she was content with her new job.Cuomo has now responded to the bombshell reports, claiming she came to him to reveal she was a sexual assault survivor, he was trying to be helpful towards her.In a press release on Saturday February 27, Cuomo called Bennett a "hardworking and valued member of his team during COVID" who has "every right to speak out.""When she came to me and opened up about being a sexual assault survivor and how it shaped her and her ongoing efforts to create an organization that empowered her voice to help other survivors, I tried to be supportive and helpful," Cuomo said in a statement, which was issued to the Times. "Ms. Bennett's initial impression was right: I was trying to be a mentor to her. I never made advances toward Ms. Bennett nor did I ever intend to act in any way that was inappropriate. The last thing I would ever have wanted was to make her feel any of the things that are being reported."Cuomo added that he will "have no further comment" until a "full and thorough outside review" of Bennett's claims is conducted and concluded. Cuomo's special counsel Judith Mogul also released a statement, which read in-part, "Ms. Bennett's concerns were treated with sensitivity and respect and in accordance with applicable law and policy... The determination reached based on the information Ms Bennett provided was that no further action was required which was consistent with Ms Bennett's wishes."Lindsey Boylan, Cuomo's first accuser, who was the former deputy secretary for economic development and a special adviser to Cuomo, published a bombshell essay Wednesday on the website Medium. She accused the governor of going "out of his way to touch me on my lower back, arms and legs," forcibly kissing her on the lips during a one-on-one briefing, and suggesting that they "play strip poker" during a plane ride. Cuomo's office denied Boylan's harassment claims, calling them "simply false" and insisting the strip poker comment "did not happen." Boylan has now expressed her support for Bennett. "I am with you Charlotte. We are with you. Always," Boylan wrote. "I am so proud of you Charlotte."Meanwhile, Cuomo faces another scandal over his controversial policy of ordering COVID-positive patients into nursing homes in the early months of the pandemic and is now reportedly facing investigations by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney over an alleged cover-up of nursing home deaths in his state.

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested in South Africa for allegedly plotting to kill her ex-husband over child maintenance, police said on Thursday, February 25. The suspect, Elelwani Jane Nedzamba was arrested by the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation members in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. The Hawks received a tip-off about the plot and kept an observation which led to the apprehension of the suspect after she withdrew R10 000 meant as deposit to pay the hitman. The suspect appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Friday, 26 February for conspiracy to commit murder. Her case was remanded to the 14th of April 2021 in the same Court as she remains in custody. The post
