President Buhari could not address Nigerians on May 29 because he knows his administration is a failure âPDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that President Buhari did not address the nation on the May 29 Inauguration day because he must have ''assessed his administration and rightly adjudged it a failure.'' The President marked 5 years in office on May 29. The presidency had in an earlier statement, said the celebration will be quiet due to the COVID19 pandemic. However, in a statement released today by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the opposition party said President Buhari must have been persuaded that he ''had nothing to tell Nigerians and saw reason to avoid making false performance claims, which are wholesomely at variance with the situation on the ground.''Of course, President Buhari probably did not want to face Nigerians with an empty scorecard and bagful of excuses for ruining our once robust economy; for failing to secure our nation, for failing to curb endemic corruption in his administration and for mortgaging the future of our nation with huge foreign loans.Indeed, Mr. President must have been weighed down by his failure, in this fiscal year, to harness our resources to provide even half of the 2020 budget formulated by his administration, for which the APC is ready to pawn the future of our nation to foreign creditors. These situations accounted for the Presidency's decision to hide behind a 62-page false performances literature instead of allowing President Buhari to face Nigerians in-person.What soothing words could Mr. President have for over 40 million Nigerians who had lost their jobs following the failure of his administration to run a viable economy as well as the over 500,000 N-power beneficiaries, whose engagements are set to be terminated barely a year after they were used to campaign for a second tenure for the APC.Furthermore, Mr. President is faced with providing answers for the fall in the value of our naira and the depletion of our foreign reserves; for the failure of his administration to reduce the price of fuel despite the price crash in the international market; for the comatose state of our critical sectors as well as the unbridled looting of over N14 trillion in the oil and gas sector under his watch.President Buhari is equally confronted with the burden of not finding solutions for the killings in Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Kogi, Zamfara and other states by marauders, kidnappers and insurgents despite claims by the government that the assailants have been routed out.In the same vein, President Buhari has no success story on the APC administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was marred by allegations of corruption and political parochialism, which frustrated an all-inclusive multi-sectoral approach in the effort. The PDP and indeed most Nigerians appreciate President Buhari’s decision not to address the nation and fall into the temptation of making false performance claims. Such would have further embarrassed his administration'' the statement read The post President Buhari could not address Nigerians on May 29 because he knows his administration is a failure PDP appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.from Linda Ikeji's Blog https://ift.tt/2ApVMOd

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has revealed the Nigeria Football Federation could sack Super Eagles Head coach Gernot Rohr if he doesn't meet the target of leading the Super Eagles to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and winning the next 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) title in Cameroon. On Wednesday, the President of the NFF Amaju Pinnick confirmed the 66-year-old Franco-German former Bayern Munich defender Rohr has been handed a new deal and explained Rohr has been given new targets in his contract.
Now Dare, says there are clauses in Gernot Rohr’s new contract which gives the NFF permission to fire him if he doesn't meet them.“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is statutorily in charge of the growth and development of football in Nigeria. Of course under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports."Dare said in an interview with NTA’s Executive Discourse published on the NFF's official website." Even before I became Minister, there are processes and procedures that are followed when it comes to bringing on a new national coach or renewing the contract of a coach who is already in the house and I think it was important for us to follow the processes and procedures in place."“For Rohr, because he had been signed on earlier, he deserved to be given the right of first refusal, that was what the NFF did and that was what I also allowed to happen. It is best practices, it is global practices but the NFF also had a review of his performance in the last three to four years and based on that review, his new contract had new conditions that never existed before. Some of them bordering on mode of payment, some of them bordering technical issues regarding the development of our football and that to me, is fundamental.”He added “For Rohr to have come in, he must have been world standard,” “With the conditions we have put in, I think it’s only fair to let him continue if he has accepted, but then again, we are going to warn him [Rohr] to a great standard of responsibility, a greater depth in our football and a greater level of success.“In that contract, there are points that if he does not meet the desired standard, we can terminate his contract. So we are not stuck with him. He has an opportunity to prove himself.“Even if we bring in the best coach in the world, we will set the same standard for him, and if those expectations are not met, we will show him the door.“We will let this play out, he has also made promises that things will get better and I think we will just wait and see what happens eventually.”The post
Manchester United Football club of England are in die-minute negotiations with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua over a loan extension for Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo, according to new reports. Ighalo arrived at United on loan on the final day of the January transfer window in a deal that lasts till May 31, but the Coronavirus pandemic postponed football. Now with the league set to resume this month, reports in England say Manchester United executive chairman Ed Woodward is in frantic talks with Shanghai Shenhua hoping a deal can be agreed to keep Ighalo at Old Trafford until the end of the year. According to the reports that emanated Sunday, Ighalo's parent club Shanghai Shenhua are interested in negotiating a new loan contract with Manchester United after being paid £3m for his initial loan deal. Negotiations are now centred around an extension until the new year, rather than just until the end of the current campaign. Acording to goal.com ''while sources say there is hope and confidence a deal can be found between all parties, the extension has yet to be fully agreed upon as the deadline ticks closer.'' Ighalo's current deal is set to expire on Sunday, and the striker has reportedly told Manchester United officials he is interested in staying back at the club even if he will be paid less money. The post

A Nigerian man has narrated how he helped a footballer friend twice even after he stopped talking to him after becoming successful. According to Oluwanishola Akeju Whitehead, he went all out to get the money the footballer needed after being selected to travel to Oslo. He further recalled how his friend stopped picking his call after he tried reaching out to him while still in Norway. However upon learning that his friend was brought back to Nigeria after he broke his leg, he made a donation and also reached out to other people to help because according to him a "friend will always be a friend" The Facebook user wrote; So a friend of mine wanted to travel out some years ago. He was a footballer. He needed fund. He rallied round. He rang me very early around 4am; and explained he was part of the selected 4 to travel to Oslo.He asked if I can assist or lend him some money. The amount he requested was way too high than what’s with me. I didn’t have it.He sounded very disappointed. After the call, I reached out to some of my colleagues, with my elder brother inclusive: Any amount, both to borrow and for free.He is such a talented guy. So I know everything I was doing, really worth it.Opportunity never knocks twice, they say.In days, I was able to get more than half of the amount he requested.I called him back. Sent him the money. And he was very happy. He got help and then traveled.Subsequently, I didn’t hear from him. No means to reach him. Nothing. One day, I ran into his Instagram page after going through another friend’s wall.He has changed. Everything about him changed. He’d moved from Oslo to Nuremberg. It was almost 2 years that he left the country then.I was really happy for him. I sent him a message and requested his contact. There was no reply. I sent him another one. Made comments for him to check his inbox. No reply still.I spoke with that my friend, which through him I stumbled on his page. He shared with me same thing. He told me he got his number from a member of his family and had called him severally but he wouldn’t pick.I collected the number and I called him. He answered his call. I was glad to hear from him, even though he wasn’t cheerful.Money indeed sometimes change the way people talk. And Just as I thought that he won’t pick my calls anymore. He didn’t pick my calls anymore.I told that my other friend and he wasn’t surprised. So I stopped ringing him.2017, I heard he came home to his newly built houses. I didn’t look for him even though we were both in the same city till he returned. Then I saw him in Adamasingba stadium last year. He could barely walk well. I was told he was brought home. This year, there was a fundraiser for his leg. I saw it and I couldn’t get pass it.A friend will always be a friend. I made my donation and also reached out to people for him again. This time around, he isn’t aware of all i did.But it doesn’t matter.Kindness to all, Without any reason. My take away here is:Do not forget your friends, when it is well with you.The post
