The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has warned against the myths some Nigerians have about the Coronavirus disease. The NCDC in a post shared on Twitter warned that the consumption of lemon, ginger, garlic, palm oil doesn't protect or prevent against Coronavirus. The agency also stated that drinking or spraying of dettol all over ones body doesn't kill Coronavirus. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq has stated that in spite of closure of schools around the country over coronavirus, the federal government's school feeding programme will still continue. Speaking to newsmen at the joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force in Abuja on Monday March 30, Sadiya disclosed that President Buhari directed the ministry to develop a strategy on how to sustain the school feeding programme. She also appealed to state governors to ensure the continuation of the programme as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, The Minister said; “In paragraph 50 of Mr President’s speech, he directed that our ministry works with the relevant state governments in developing a strategy on how to sustain the school feeding programme.“We will be doing this and I have already started contacting the governors on agreeing on the modalities to adopt.“I have accordingly contacted the programme heads of the programme. This particular task may have to go beyond the affected states because as we are aware, all schools are closed down and children are at home.“So, we are looking at modalities to see how we will extend this directive beyond the states where the lockdown has affected."The post 
A painting by Vincent van Gogh has been stolen from a Dutch museum currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The museum was closed on March 2 in line with national measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Police said the painting with an estimated value of up to £5m was stolen on Monday at the Singer Laren Museum in what appeared to be a smash-and-grab from the front entrance. During a press conference broadcast on Youtube, the museum’s director, Jan Rudolph de Lorm, said he was “incredibly pissed off” after thieves stole the painting, which had been on loan from the Groninger Museum. De Lorm said: “This is exactly what you don’t want as a museum that has a painting on loan. “A beautiful and moving painting by one of our greatest painters, stolen from the community … This must come back as soon as possible, so that we can enjoy and be comforted by this beautiful art again. Art deserves to be seen and shared by us, the community.” Arthur Brandt, an art detective, told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper that the artwork could be worth up to €6m (£5m). The 14 day total lockdown order issued by President Buhari on Sunday March 29, was effected in Lagos and Abuja from 11pm on Monday March 30. While Ogun state government postponed the lockdown directive till Friday April 3, the police have blocked the inbound and outbound sections of the Lagos-Ibadan express way. The total lockdown order was also adhered to in Abuja as some streets have already been deserted. It is expected that health officials will identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contact with confirmed cases within the 14 day total lockdown in the two states and the FCT. A video of a Nigerian dad complaining bitterly over the poor condition his daughter is allegedly being subjected to at an isolation center, has surfaced online. The man who introduced himself as Mr Olanutu, told reporters during an interview that his daughter who is diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus, has been left unattended to by the medical staff at one of the isolation centers. Botswana is the latest African country to confirm cases of the deadly coronavirus. On Monday night, health minister Lemogang Kwape announced the country's first three cases of coronavirus on state television. Kwape said the three people who had tested positive for the virus are two males and a female, who had travelled from Thailand and the United Kingdom respectively. 34-year-old Ifeanyi Asiatugbulam, said to be the only surviving member of late millionaire kidnapper and former police officer Corporal Collins Ezenwa aka E-money's gang, has been arrested by operatives of the Imo State Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) alongside one other suspect. The suspect was arrested alongside 20-year-old Kingsley Udo Johnson at Ikot Akwa in Nsit Atai Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State in an operation coordinated by the SARS commander in the state, CSP Victor Godfrey. Asiatugbulam escaped during a gun duel in which E-money and two other gang members were killed on January 27, 2018 at Atta community of Ikeduru, Imo state. Though he was arrested in another case in which one Onyia Destiny Chinyere was kidnapped and driven to their den at Oru East of Imo State, he mysteriously escaped from police custody. One AK47 rifle and 54 live 7.6mm ammunition was recovered from him at that time. The suspects were trailed to Akwa Ibom where they were arrested in their hideout in a remote village. Asiatugbulam has confessed to the crimes and also revealed that he worked with the ate kidnap kingpin E-Money. British Airways has grounded all flights to and from Gatwick Airport due to coronavirus but still operate from London Heathrow at a severely reduced schedule.This is due to the ‘considerable restrictions and challenging market environment’ amid the coronavirus pandemic, a spokesperson said. Gawat Jubril, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State in New Media, was called out after he took to Twitter to write about the first ever virtual meeting held by Lagos State excos amid the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the stay-at-home order resulting from the coronavirus outbreak, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu held a virtual meeting with some executives, as opposed to meeting physically. 
Gawat Jubril took to Twitter to call this virtual meeting a historic event. He wrote: "Flash: Lagos State exco makes history with first-ever virtual meeting."

As the nation continues to battle the Coronavirus scourge, Nigeria's Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has said that no country in the world can boast of having enough ventilators within their healthcare system. A ventilator is a machine designed to provide mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air in and out of the lungs, to deliver breaths to a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. The machine is attached to a tube inserted in the patient’s airway so it can deliver air into the lungs. Nigeria has less than 500 ventilators in the whole Federation, a matter that is of great concern to many Nigerians. However while speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Ehanire said this isn't a cause for alarm as only one of the Coronavirus cases in Nigeria requires the use of a ventilator. “The question of ventilators; yes we are addressing it. There is no country in this world that has enough ventilators. Of all the cases we have had so far only one requires a ventilator. Some require just Oxygen. Probably less than four per cent of the cases we are dealing with require ventilators.“Government is also taking inventory of what each state requires. The number of ventilators you have in the country does not decide your rate of survival.” he said The Minister at the press briefing said efforts are being made to establish testing labs for the infectious disease in Abakiliki, Kaduna, Kano, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt and Sokoto within the next three weeks. Toke Makinwa has reacted after she was called out for stating that China should be fined for the coronavirus pandemic that started in Wuhan, China. The media personality said at the time: "Not to even lie I am low key mad at china, the whole world should fine them when all of this is over, the whole world is paying dearly for it. The Ogun state police command have arrested a masquerade otherwise known as Egungun in Yoruba parlance, for defying the government’s order banning all public gatherings in the state as part of measures to curb Coronavirus spread. A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the masquerade was apprehended along Ijeja area in Abeokuta the state capital after it confronted the policemen and threatened to deal with them if they dispersed his followers. “Upon the report, policemen from Ibara Division moved to the area and warned the people to disperse but the masequrade confronted the policemen and threatened to deal with them if they insist on dispersing his followers.“The masequrade was subsequently arrested and taken to the station where he was warned to be law-abiding before he was released to a reliable surety”, the statement readMeanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that the lockdown in Ogun will commence on Friday April 3rdThe post 
Aaron Carter's girlfriend, Melanie Martin, has been arrested for suspicion of domestic violence. The police were called to the singer's Lancaster, California, home on Sunday night when a fight allegedly broke out between the couple. According to TMZ, cops were called to the residence at 11pm and found visible marks on Carter's body. The singer claimed that he and Melanie got into a physical altercation and she allegedly scratched him. Police determined Melanie to be the aggressor and she was taken into custody. Carter told TMZ that Melanie informed him she's pregnant right before they got into the argument that led to her getting arrested. He says he thinks she's lying and there's no chance they're getting back together. After the alleged altercation, Carter took to Twitter to send a strong message about domestic violence. "You don't have to wait for someone to treat you bad repeatedly. All it takes is once, and if they get away with it that once, if they know they can treat you like that, then it sets the pattern for the future," he tweeted. 
"So sad, ;( I hope she gets the help she needs. no one deserves domestic abuse female OR MALE #DomesticAbuse #Cheater she literally chocked [sic] me out... I'm devastated," he wrote in another tweet. 
Carter and Martin first went public with their relationship in January, posting a series of loved-up photos and videos on Instagram. Then, within weeks, Carter had tattooed her name above his right eyebrow.

The Nigerian Naira plunged further in value on Monday March 30, as it exchanged at N412 for a dollar following a temporary suspension of sale of forex to the Bureau De Change operators in the country by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Recall that the apex bank had pegged the exchange rate of the Naira at N380 to the dollar, a move it insisted was not a devaluation of the Nigerian currency. Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouq, says the Federal government has begun cash transfer to the poorest households in the country to cushion the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. Farouk announced this at a press conference in Abuja. She said her ministry has commenced advance payment of conditional cash transfer to the poorest households in the country. She however did not disclose the amount of cash that is being transfered to the poor. “In Mr. President’s speech, paragraph 54, he directed that the conditional cash transfer should be given in advance of two months. This we have also done. We have directed immediate cash transfer to the poorest and most vulnerable households in the country.“Because of this COVID-19, the vulnerable groups have to expanded, because we are aware that there are people who live on daily wage, so we are also going to look at those groups of people to see how we can get this food relief intervention to them in this period.” she saidLagos and Abuja are currently on lockdown as part of measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus. A Florida Pastor, Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne has been arrested by the police for holding fully-packed church services despite a stay-at-home order in the state. Prior to his arrest, the evangelical pastor had insisted that he wouldn't close the doors of his Tampa Bay megachurch until the End Times begin. He also encouraged those in attendance at his River at Tampa Bay Church to shake hands, to show they were not afraid of contracting the coronavirus. A video from the church service on Sunday March 29, showed dozens of people packed inside the church and standing shoulder-to-shoulder. 
Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was arrested on Monday March 30 on misdemeanor charges of unlawful assembly and violation of public health rules after defying social distancing orders at The River at Tampa Bay church. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a press conference; “I made a decision to seek an arrest warrant for the pastor of a local church who intentionally and repeatedly chose to disregard the orders set in place by our president, the governor, the CDC and the Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group. His reckless disregard for human life put hundreds of people in his congregation at risk and thousands of residents who may interact with them this week in danger." 
The church has claimed on its website that the restrictions are a violation of the First Amendment, and in a March 18 post on Facebook, the church said it was providing an “essential service” that made it exempt from the social distancing orders. Authorities said the sheriff’s office spoke to attorneys for the church to explain they were in violation of government orders, and officers attempted to meet in person with the pastor but he refused. Howard-Brown turned himself in to a neighboring sheriff’s office and was booked and released within 40 minutes. Florida has more than 5,200 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 63 deaths, according to the state's health department.The post 
The index case of coronavirus in Oyo has been released from the state's isolaton center after testing negative on Monday March 30. The index case underwent treatement at the Agbami Chest Hospital which is being used as isolation centre in Ibadan. Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa said in a statement; “The American returnee had initially tested negative only for the second test to read positive.“The index case had been on self-isolation at a private residence in Ibadan until he was transferred to the Isolation centre at Agbami, Jericho area of Ibadan on March 23.“The index case was released after two consecutive negative tests"The post
