Justice Jide Falola of Osun State High Court in Ikirun on Thursday sentenced three men, Nuhu Jimoh, David Ndubisi and Oluwaseun Aderibigbe, to death by hanging for bank robbery. Thirty-two people, including two police personnel and two bank workers, were killed during the exchange of gunfire between the robbers and the police during the robbery that occurred on February 12 , 2016, Delivering judgment, Justice Falola found the men guilty of launching coordinated attacks on the First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank, situated on the same street in Ikirun in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state and pronounced the death sentence on them. 
The judge said the gun recovered from the convicts during the bank robbery be forfeited to the Nigeria Police, while the money recovered from them be forfeited to Osun Government. The convicts were first arraigned on June 29, 2017, on 10 count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, illegal possession of firearms and others. The State Counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora said the offences were contrary to Section 6(b), 1(1) & (2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap. 34 Laws of Osun State, 2002, and Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, respectively. Badiora told the court that the convicts on Feb. 12, 2016 at about 3:30 pm, in a coordinated bank robbery, attacked First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank, situated along the same street in Ikirun, simultaneously. 
The prosecution counsel said during the robbery, combined team of policemen from Iragbiji police Division, Ikirun police Patrol Team and Special Anti-robbery Squad, responded to distress call and gun duel ensued between the armed robbers and the policemen at the scene. He said investigations revealed that seven members of armed gang were killed by police at the scene of crime, while some others escaped with gunshots injuries.He said seven assorted ammunitions including AK-47 gun Israeli and Russian made and N7, 486,300.00 taken from the banks were recovered by the Police.Badiora said five witnesses were called and 30 exhibits tendered. The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo was denied visa by the Lagos office of the United States Embassy on Thursday January 30. Why Bishop Oyedepo was denied a US visa by the embassy wasn't made clear but he was given the standard default explanation of not being qualified for visa renewal and was urged to try again. Eyewitnesses alleged that the Pastor and businessman created a scene at the facility as he insisted that he has not violated any rules or committed any crime to have warranted being denied a renewal of his visa. When Oyedepo asked his bodyguards to get his phones so he can make some calls, he was reportedly told he can't make calls within the precincts of the visa-issuing section of the embassy. Though Bishop Oyedepo is yet to publicly comment on the incident, ThisDay reported that he told the Embassy's authorities that he has been traveling to the United States since the 1980s. A 31-year-old man paraded by the Taraba State Police Command has confessed to killing his girlfriend, Imbajuri Ambisi. The suspect identified as Munda Bala reportedly conspired with his two friends to kill his girlfriend who they burnt to ashes before burying her in a bush. The native of Donga Local Government Area who was paraded alongside some ashes and bones of the deceased, blamed the sad act on jealousy and hardship. He told newsmen; “I fell in love with Imbajuri Ambisi. She became my girlfriend; I got her pregnant and she delivered a baby boy and killed him after seven months.“This got me angry and I couldn’t tell anyone. My money got finished and she ran away to some wealthy guys who engage in the selling of rosewoods to foreigners.”“This got me jealous and I met two of my friends who advised me that if I really want my heart to be at rest, I have to kill her, hence our decision to eliminate her." A 52-year-old man who was charged with killing his estranged wife after she went missing has died two days after he attempted suicide. In a statement by Norm Pattis, the lawyer of Fotis Dulos said his client died just after 5.30pm at Jacobi Medical Center on Thursday in the Bronx, New York.Mr. Pattis said: "Mr. Dulos was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. Now he has been executed."His attorney added: "We remain committed to demonstrating he did not murder Jennifer."Before his death, the estranged husband of Jennifer Farber Dulos attempted to take his own life inside his garage while awaiting trial for the murder of wife Jennifer Dulos who went missing after dropping her children at school.
The real estate businessman was found in his car inside the garage of his mansion in Farmington, Connecticut, on Tuesday afternoon, having suffered carbon monoxide poisoning.He was found by Police officers who had gone to check on him as he failed to appear for a court hearing over one of the properties used to secure his $6 million bond.Officers later found him at his Farmington, Connecticut, house in distress and called for an ambulance. They performed CPR and airlifted him to UConn Heath for treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning before they took him to a specialist medical centre. He died after two days.His estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, a 50-year-old mother of five, disappeared in May 2019 in New Canaan, Connecticut, after she dropped her children off at school. 
Investigators found her car near a park not far from her home, but she has not been seen or heard from since, and officials now believe she is dead. She and Fotis Dulos were in the midst of a bitter custody battle before she went missing. In 2017, Jennifer Farber Dulos moved out to a home in New Canaan and filed for divorce, court records show. She told officials she was afraid of her husband, according to court documents obtained by CNN."I know that filing for divorce and filing this motion will enrage him," she said, according to the documents. "I know he will retaliate by trying to harm me in some way."Fotis Dulos denied making any threats or bullying her, according to court filings.He and his then-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were arrested in June and charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence after investigators found blood stains and evidence of attempts to clean the crime scene, officials said. They pleaded not guilty.He was arrested on murder and kidnapping charges earlier this month and again pleaded not guilty. The management of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended a 200-level student of the institution who was caught smoking weed (marijuana) on campus. The 200-level student of the Department of Physics was identified as Uzoagba Chinaemerem and it was gathered that the incident occurred on 27th November, 2019 in Hall 4 of the institution's Male Hostel, Uzoagba Chinaemerem will reportedly remain on suspension till the Students' Disciplinary Committee concludes its investigation, as disclosed in a letter dated 17 January, 2020 and signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu. This is coming after the World Health Organization declared Coronavirus, the deadly flu-like virus which was first noticed in Chinese city of Wuhan as a world health emergency. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the reason for declaration of the virus as a world health emergency is not because of what is happening in China but because of what is happening in other countries. A middle-aged man simply identified as Samaila, has been arrested by men of the Katsina state police command for chaining his wives, Fatima Salisu and Hadiza Musa, and subjecting them to inhumane treatments in his home in Yannadabaiyye village in the Rimi Local Government Area of the state, for over 10 months. According to the police, Samaila's evil deeds came to light when Hadiza's mother paid them a surprise visit. Not meeting with her daughter, Hadiza's mother pleaded to take away a sewing machine she bought for her daughter who isn't using it. Samaila's refusal led to an argument which degenrated into a fight. Hadiza's mother went on to report the assault to the police at the Rimi Police headquarters. The officers immediately went to effect Samaila's arrest. It was during the arrest that Fatima and Hadiza were found in chains. When interrogated, Fatima said she has been in chains for 10 months while Hadiza came in two weeks ago and was also placed under chains. The women told the police that their husband used electric wires to beat them, cut their nails, shave their pubic hair and used it to form a concoction which he forced them to drink. They told the police that their husband had sex with them whenever he liked in the full glare of the other wife. The women said they had no idea what their husband does for a living but knew he always returned with wads of N500 notes. Five days after the tragic Helicopter crash, the cause of death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna has been confirmed by the LA County coroner's office. The NBA legend, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter tragically died along with seven others when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed near Calabasas, California on Sunday. The Los Angeles County coroner's office has announced that all nine victims of the crash lost their lives to "blunt trauma", with the deaths certified as an "accident" after body examinations were performed, according to Hollywood Life. The seven other people who also died in the crash were Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, 56, his wife Keri, their daughter Alyssa and Harbor Day School assistant coach Christina Mauser. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday January 30, received and lit the ‘Torch of Unity’ ahead of the National Sports Festival. The President called on private sector investors to join hands with the government in youth and sports development in the country, during the function heralding the sports festival scheduled to hold in March in Benin City, Edo State's capital. Buhari stated that his administration is committed to supporting and providing the enabling environment for the development of sports at all levels. He said; ‘‘I am pleased to receive the National Sports Festival “Torch of Unity’’. It is a symbolic representation of the Unity, Peace and Solidarity amongst Nigerians, especially the athletes and officials in the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.‘‘Since the inception of the National Sports Festival in 1973, the Games have been a useful avenue for interaction, integration for our youth, sportsmen and women and a platform for states to showcase their best in sports.” The event had in attendance the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr Sunday Dare, among other dignitaries. Eeleven suspected fraudsters have been arrested by operatives of the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 30th 2020. 
One of the fraudster, a female, was arrested at Airport View Estate, Thinkers Corner, Enugu. The arrest, which was the first by the zone in the new year, followed several intelligence report on the ostentatious lifestyles of the suspects. 
On the strength of the intelligence, operatives of the Commission, with duly signed search warrant, raided about four building within the same vicinity where they recovered several mobile phones, lap tops, computers, several MTN Sim packs, a Toyota Venza, Mercedes C350, two Lexus Jeeps, one GLK 350 Benz, two ES350 Lexus, a Mustang 455FA car and other incriminating items. Interim investigation revealed that the suspected female fraudster was discovered to have a software in her phone with an instruction and format used in duping gullible individuals. 
Further analysis is being carried out on items recovered from them and on their persons. The EFCC in its statement said the suspects will all be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded. The post

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after perfecting his bail conditions. Recall LIB reported that the former lawmaker who was arrested on December 31, 2019, was granted a N10m bail after being arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo on two counts of fraud involving alleged extortion of $25,000 from a businessman in November 2019. He was accused of extorting the businessman on grounds of passing the money to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad and the acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

Former Edo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Henry Idajagbon was attacked by gunmen on Thursday January 30. The gunmen stormed his law chamber located at Siluko Road, near the popular Oliha Market in Benin-city in three vehicles and shattered all items on sight and reportedly fired several shots at the former Commissioner's office. Idajagbon was injured in the attack as a bullet grazed his head. Eyewitnesses alleged that the attack might be connected to the crisis ravaging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state which has been factionalised with different chairmen championing the cause of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his estranged political godfather who is the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. 
Idajagbon who confirmed the attack said he reported the incident to the nearby Oba Market Police station, where a team of policemen were drafted to assess the extent of the damage done to the building. He said; “I was in my office attending to some clients when I heard the echoes of gunshots directed at my office. I immediately ran out. Thank God nobody was injured. The windows were shattered while the building is pockmarked with bullets. However, I have reported the matter to the police."In panic, some neighbours who heard the volley of the shots, apparently from pump action rifles ran out of their shops, unlocked and fled for fear of being hit by stray bullets."
