The spirit did not bring any money - Prophet who aided in killing and eating of LASU final year student
Segun Philip, the white-garment church Prophet who colloborated with Adeeko Owolabi and his mother Bola in killing of a final-year student of the Lagos State University (LASU) Favour Daley-Oladele, has revealed that the money-ritual they embarked on did not work out. The Pastor disclosed that he went through the money ritual process with Owolabi without the knowledge of his mother upon being paraded before newsmen. He said; “What Owolabi and I discussed is that when they use the concoction once, the money will come once, but his mother doesn’t know that; we just told her that when she uses it, she will be receiving contracts from everywhere.“But the spirit did not bring money at all, the ritual did not work." 23-year-old Owolabi who expressed regrets over the sad act, said; “There was a well there already which the church was planning on using but they abandoned it for years. It was there we put the remaining part of her body then I covered it with sand.Owolabi said that “my dad has lost his job for some years and my mum has been the one helping the family; she also lost her job, but she started doing some contract jobs. After some time, she stopped receiving contracts.“From that day, I started regretting my action, even before we were arrested.” The emotional father of the money ritual victim, said they all looked forward to Favour becoming the first female graduate in the house. He said; “It is quite emotional, having raised that girl for that number of years; Favour happens to be a golden girl to the family. We waited for some years before having her, she went to school and when we envisaged that in a few months, she will be going for her NYSC, and start celebrating a female graduate in the house, then some people conspire to kill her is touching.“All we want is justice for Favour and I believe it will serve as a deterrent to others who are in this kind of thing."The post The spirit did not bring any money - Prophet who aided in killing and eating of LASU final year student appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.from Linda Ikeji's Blog https://ift.tt/39sq7so

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has said that the release of publisher and convener of Revolution Now protest, Omoyele Sowore, and a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, were done out of compassion. Malami made this known in a statement released by his spokesperson, Dr Umar Gwandu, while reacting to a statement issued on Sunday December 29th by Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN). Falana had demanded that Malami apologizes to Sowore and Dasuki for allegedly offering wrong advice to the Federal Government which resulted in the prolonged detention of Dasuki for four years and Sowore for over four months despite different court orders granting them bail. Reacting to Falana's comment demanding an apology to Dasuki and Sowore, Malami in his statement, said he is disappointed at the Senior Lawyer for making such demands when he knows that the release could only have been granted based on valid reasons which includes compassion.“First, it is beyond doubt that the Federal Government of Nigeria or any prosecuting authority has been vested with constitutional right of appeal in criminal prosecutions. These rights extend to rulings on bail and right to seek to vary terms of bail, among others. Thus, in any circumstance where this right is waived by the prosecution, it can only be for valid reasons, including compassion, after all connected issues have been duly considered.” the statement read He accused Falana of trying to garner media hype in condemning the Federal government's kind gesture of releasing Sowore and Dasuki.“It is further appalling to note that in a bid to garner media hype in condemnation of a valid governmental action taken in good faith and in the interest of the general public, Mr Falana, SAN, resorted to quoting non-existing sections of the constitution by stating that, Mr Malami (SAN), should have apologised to Col. Dasuki (retd.) and Mr Sowore in accordance with Section 32(6) of the 1999 Constitution…It is unfortunate that a senior member of the bar could resort to concoctions and fabrications of non-existing provisions just to score cheap media publicity. It is important to highlight that the statement issued by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, which Mr Falana was allegedly responding to, did not howsoever state that the duo of Dasuki and Sowore were released further to the constitutional provisions on Prerogative of Mercy.A lawyer of Mr Falana’s status should thus desist from stretching arguments beyond reasonable limits in order to score cheap political points. It is a common knowledge that Prerogative of Mercy and compassion simpliciter are two different concepts.” the statement read The post

An 18-year-old boy has been accused of killing his 19-year-old girlfriend of nine months. Prosecutors say Lafayette Hodges shot and killed his girlfriend, Lyniah Bell, during a “play fighting” with a gun he thought was unloaded on Friday night in East Chatham. On Monday, December 30, he was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter after Bell was shot in the head at his home near 81st Street and Maryland Avenue. During his bond hearing, Lafayette Hodges cried through his mugshot photos, and through his bond hearing. A judge set Hodges’ bail on that charge at $50,000 but ordered him held without bail for violating the terms of his earlier bond. According to court records, Hodges also was arrested in April and charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, and resisting arrest. Cook County court records said he punched and bit two officers. He was released after posting bail but had been arrested at least twice before the shooting on drug charges. Hodges also has a juvenile history of weapons charges, including attempted armed robbery. Prosecutors said Hodges was out on $2,000 bail in the aggravated battery case at the time of the shooting. According to prosecutors, Hodges told detectives the friend had brought the gun to his house, and emptied the bullets onto the bed before he started playing with it. He also claimed Bell told him “he loved her too much to hurt her” when he pointed the gun at her. The post
