Adekunle Gold’s ’Before You Wake Up’ videotakes a linear approach to tell a romantic story, and it pays off. Right off the bat, we're thrown into the fairytale with soft lighting and pristine whites complementing the singer's love interest. We follow them both through their days and have a clearer picture of just how much of a doting and supportive boyfriend Adekunle Gold is. We even get a few cuts of him dancing.

Also of notable importance are the styling choices. Adekunle Gold seems to be experimenting with a new, somewhat alternative style, and we're curious to see where he takes it.

ABOUT ADEKUNLE GOLD

Adekunle Gold is a Nigerian Urban Highlife singer, songwriter and graphic designer. BornAdekunle Kosoko in Isale Eko Lagos state, he is a member of the Kosoko Royal House of Lagos and the only son of his parents.

Adekunle discovered his musical talent at a young age; he started singing in his church junior choir and wrote his first song at the age of 15. He went on to study Arts and Design at the Lagos State Polytechnic and majored in Graphics. In the early years of his career, he was a member of a boy band called The Bridge. He went solo in 2014 after he disbanded the group.

Adekunle added Gold to his name after an inspirational session in church. His single‘Sade’, a cover of One Direction's ‘Story Of My Life’ enjoyed massive airplay from radio stations in Nigeria. It was termed best cover by music critics. The single won Best Alternative Song at the 2015 Headies Award. After the release of "Sade", Adekunle Goldreleased his first official single titled ‘Orente’through YBNL Nation after signing a music contract with the record label on March 5, 2015.

After the release of two successful singles, he released another hit song Pick Up. After numerous back to back hits, Adekunle Goldreleased an album titled ‘Gold’ in July 2016. The album is a 16 track project that had production credits from Oscar Herman, Masterkraft, B Banks, Pheelz, Sleekamo, Fiokee and Seyikeyz. With pictorial representation, and hitting #7 spot onBillboard World album chart, the Gold albumdid not fall short of fans expectations.

The success of his album, earned Adekunle Gold various awards including Best Alternative Song Headies 2015, Best Song Beat of Lagos 2015, Best New Act Nea Awards 2016 Revelation of Africa, Afrima Awards 2015, Best New Act to Watch Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Best Song Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

Adekunle Gold departed from YBNL Nationdue to the expiry of his contract in December 2016. He unveiled his band ‘The 79th Element’ in reference to the atomic number of gold. He made his movie debut in the movie ‘Mentally’ where he played the role of a bus conductor.

His 2017 songs ‘Only Girl’ ft Moelogo and‘Call On Me’ off his anticipated 2017 album received massive airplay and rave views.

Following the success of his ‘One Night Stand’ UK tour, Adekunle Gold held his first headline concert in Nigeria at the Balmoral Event Centre, Federal Palace Hotel. His About30 Concert held in London on June 29, 2018.

SKALES PULLS A HAT-TRICK AND RELEASES THREE VIDEOS OFF HIS MR. LOVE ALBUM

In a daring, unexpected move, Skales goes above and beyond to release three brilliant videos for tracks off his most recent albumMr Love.

The Baseline artiste dishes out three different moods with each video. The party hit ’Fast Whyne’, which features Afro B, shows the more fun, party-loving, side of Skales.

We see the customary flashy cars, beautiful women, and large houses, all very telling of a ”fast” life.

In ’Sawa’ (featuring Dice Ailes), we see a more playful, intentional, and loving side ofSkales as he explores the city of Beirut with his love interest. The picturesque city is the perfect backdrop for their love story, and we're drawn into the whirlwind romance.

And then Skales makes it a little more personal with ’Good Life’ (featuring Neza).This minimal video is brilliantly shot, highlighting the artiste's dedication to creating music ”for the people” and honing his craft. The star's mother also makes an appearance in this video, tugging on our heartstrings a little.

Two videos in this brilliant hat-trick release were directed by Stanz Visuals, while the third ’Fast Whyne’, was directed by Doyin Ajakaye of Simplicity Visual Studio.

Also worthy of note is ‘Skales’ very cute new visual tag at the end of each video.

ABOUT SKALES

Skales is a Nigerian based singer, songwriter and performing artist currently signed toBaseline Records.  Born and raised in Kaduna, he is the only child of his mother.

Skales grew up with his mother, a single parent who did menial jobs to raise him. He became interested in music while at his mother’s cassette store. At the age of 9, he wrote his first rap song in Kaduna.

He travelled to Jos between 2007 and 2008 to work with Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang and attended the University of Jos. In 2008, he entered the Zain Tru Search competition and won the competition's North Central Region. He eventually graduated with a degree in Office Management and Technology from Lead City University.

In 2009, he released his debut single, "Must Shine" and it received numerous spin on the Rhythm FM stations in Lagos, Jos and Abuja. He released “Heading for a Grammy” was inspired by Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks”.  He relocated to Lagos and signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment.

Skales has recorded over 200 songs and collaborated with numerous artists, includingEldee, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W, Knighthouse and Burna Boy. His hit songs include “Booty Language” "Shake Body", "Mukulu", "Keresimesi", "Komole", "My Baby", "Take Care of Me" and "Denge Pose".

Skales performed at the 2013 edition of Felabration, a yearly concert dedicated to Late Fela Kuti. His record label OHK Music was established; after departing from Empire Mates Entertainment in May 2014. His album, ‘Man of the Year’, was released in 2015. In 2016, Skales released his song ‘Temper’ and featured Afro-Fusion artist Burna Boy. The song received massive airplay and was featured on a short documentary made by Major Lazer whilst touring in Africa.

In 2017, he released his hit song ‘Booty Language’ featuring Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie off his album ‘The Never Say Never Guy’.

Music has taken Skales to different countries including US, UK, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Canada, Uganda and a host of others. Skales is the first Nigerian artist to Co-headline a major Reggae beach fest in Dubai with Kymani Marley.

He was a featured artist in ‘Run Up’ by Major Lazer featuring Partynextdoor,Yung L, Chopstix and American rapper Nicki Minaj.

BIOGRAPHY

Ed Izycs is a multi-talented Nigerian instrumentalist, composer, music producer and video director who hails from Akwa Ibom but was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rumukwurusi precisely. He is the Second of Six boys in his family. He started creating compositions in 2006 with his elder brotherLeriQ then went on performing at his Mother’s restaurant on Friday evenings.

Ed Izycs plays the Piano, Recorder, Western concert flute and the Guitar effortlessly.

Ed Izycs released his first  full body of work titled “The Songz Of Izycs” in 2016.

Ed Izycs has directed most of his music videos. He released his first video material for his composition called Celebration in 2015. He shot the video for the song  with his phone (an Xperia Z3 compact) and uploaded on YouTube which further garnered awareness. He got signed to Cadilly Entertainment in December 2014 and they re-released the song Celebration as his first official single.
